On Saturday November 1st, The Florence Township Fire Department, along with units from Burlington Township, Mansfield Township, and Bordentown Township responded to a reported attic fire in the 300 block of West Third Street in Florence.  Ambulance 4081 was on location reporting fire from the roof.  Battalion Chief 4010 arrived to smoke coming from the roof with visible flames from multiple roof vents.  The crew from Engine 4012 stretched a line to the attic to locate the source of the fire.  Tower 4015 arrived on location and was ordered to the roof to provide ventilation.  Engine 3222 arrived and provided a water supply to Engine 4012.  Their crew then reported to the interior to assist.  In less than 10 minutes the interior crews reported the bulk of the fire was knocked down and they were checking for extension.   Engine 3032, Tower 3035, and Engine 3311 provide manpower and assistance to the interior crews.  RIC Engine 9061 placed additional ground ladders to provide a secondary egress for the crews on the roof and the interior.

Engine 4012’s crew made a good stop for the conditions they were presented with, high heat, zero visibility and limited access.  They held the fire to the area of origin, thus limiting damage.  No injuries were reported.  All crews should be commended for their efforts.

On Saturday October 4, 2014 at about 0620hrs Station was dispatched for a car fire.  Chief 4000 arrived to find a van with a fully involved engine compartment fire with an exposure to another vehicle that was unable to be moved.  Engine 4013 arrived and went into service with 2 – 1 3/4 hand lines to extinguish the vehicle.  Crews were able to protect the exposure vehicle with very little damage to it and stopped the fire from getting into the passenger compartment of the fire vehicle.
